Local know-how
Converted houses, shopfronts and studios
A lot of Hackney is Victorian houses split into flats. Each has a shared street door and a separate lock on every flat, so it matters who is responsible for which door.
Dalston, Shoreditch and Hackney Wick are full of bars, shops, studios and warehouse units with shutters and roller doors, and they often need us after closing time.
See recent crime reports for Dalston, Clapton or Hackney Wick on police.uk, or call the police on 101 for anything that is not an emergency.

The locks we fit
Quality locks, not cheap imports
Not all locksmiths use the same locks. Some fit cheap unbranded locks that can wear quickly and fail. We do not.
- From proper suppliersEvery lock we fit is bought from reputable, well-established UK locksmith wholesalers.
- British Standard and KitemarkedCylinders carry the BSI Kitemark to TS007, and our mortice deadlocks meet BS 3621, the standard most home insurers ask for.
- Built to lastBranded locks work smoothly for years. Cheap ones can stick, wear and fail, which means another call-out.
- One price, all-inclusiveThe lock, fitting and labour in one price, agreed on the call before we come out.
Converted houses
One house, several front doors: who fixes what?
Most of our Hackney calls are to houses split into flats. This is who usually pays for which door, so you know who to ask.
The street door
Shared by every flat. Usually the freeholder or landlord pays. Give us their details and we can invoice them.
Your flat door
Usually yours if you own the flat, or your landlord’s if you rent. Your lease or tenancy agreement will say.
A flat door onto the shared stairs
It may be a fire door, so ask before changing it. We fit locks that keep it to its rating.
Locked out of both
We open the street door first, then your flat door, and tell you the price for each before we start.
